Gottfried, <<McAfee detected one in one of my files that wasn't a virus. I've since switched to Norton>> I had exactly the same experience. Turned out that McCaffee didn't like a small macro for excel that I had written. It was really a simple one (which is about the max of my patience for such things). Then I lost a disk drive and Dell replaced it under warranty. However, when they did they did not reload McCaffee for me (nor did they supply a cd when they sold me the system.) So I simply downloaded Norton. I am very pleased with the way it runs. I check their download site at least once a week, which is a simple click within their shell. *OT* FWIW, I take delivery Monday of the Dell machine's replacement. This last 4 weeker on the road put a permanent crease in my shoulder (and a damper in my normally bouncy step). Not sure what to do with the Dell Inspiron. It is a fine system but just too heavy for me to lug around. I am getting the TravelMate 332T from Acer. In fact, the very first one to arrive in Malaysia (which usually does lag the field in releases. For example, Sony's ultra light notebook is not available here yet and Sharp's entry ( a sleek one) is virtually sold out anywhere it shows up. Besides, Acer's entry in this emerging class of notebook (a mid point between Windows CE models and 6.5 lb. and up shoulder killers) is the first one I have seen using a Pentium II. The others all are Pentium I , MMX. Unless , of course, you have the IBM tatoo. <G> ptech.wsj.com I am also shopping for a new digital camera that is easier to interface to the computer (either through compatible media or direct connect)and transfers files faster. A few weeks ago I bought a new Samsung cellular phone. It is half the weight of my older Ericson model, fits in my shirt pocket, and optionally vibrates instead of a ring for non intrusive call announcement. Finally, I am shopping for a new, slightly larger and tougher, roll around suitcase. Why am I on a spending spree? Because this coming year I will likely log twice the 180K miles, or so, that I logged last year. Its all about mobility now, though I am still trying to figure out if it is because business is truly picking up or because I am intuitively moving to the defense of presenting a moving target. <G> best, Stitch
