500 bucks on 26 stocks. Uh oh. High commissions. that are 52 trades (getting out, too). that are between $520 and $1040 depending on brokers. I would buy the internet index contract instead of. Then I would be invested in a large number of stocks, too.

Both Mr. Dines and Steve know what they are talking about. Steve's top 10 hot list is good but I am wanting to increase my odds of success with diversification and indexing. Of course, I may also by doing so reduce my overall rate of return. I want to make sure that I have all areas of the internet stock universe covered (e.g. portals, isps, security) so that I am sure to partake in this overall bull market we are in.
Most of Mr. Dines stocks are also stocks in the ISDEX that Steve created. An example of an exception is netbank which went through the roof recently. I frankly thought netbank was overvalued before it went up a bunch so I did not follow Mr. Dines on that stock. So much for my logic!
I indexed the ISDEX with about 44 of the approximately 50 stocks. I also added a few fiber companies like Qwest, Global Crossing and others. ,I hate the commissions but with the super growth of these internet related stocks, the commissions are not that big of a deal. I think that Mr. Dines approach has less downside risk. As to dollar amounts to put into each stock that is each investor's choice.
In summary, I like a indexed, diversified approach to net stocks. Sounds like I want my cake and to eat it too!
Steve and his organization is trying to court some mutual fund companies into creating an ISDEX FUND. It would be great but I think a very large cash out penalty would have to be built in to protect long term investors from the traders.
I consider myself both an investor and a trader. Both approachs deal with Fear and Greed. It is important to stay objective and unemotional as possible in this internet stock world.
