Nimingdn, you're quite right. Getting @Home (TCI Cable Modem) service was a painful experience for me and many others that I know. Their call center proved to be slow and uninformed. And actually getting the service up took an entire day of my time (very costly in my line of work).

Our metropolitan area has overwhelmed their capacity. In fact, I couldn't get the service for 6 months due to capacity issues and lack of service. (It ain't rural where I live.)

I still use AOL with @Home...great for the family. Now I'm not a weenie, but I'm better than the average bear with this stuff and I can't imagine a newbie to the net or computers trying to get through the @Home process...AOL makes it a lot easier.

There are still a lot of people not on the net...they'll try to get on the easiest way they can. The day you can call @Home and be up in hours is the day we need to worry...this seems like quite a way off to me. So based upon these observations I think AOL has a way to run as a company...hopefully this is connected to their earnings growth and stock price.

As an investor, I have always used this kind of grassroots observation to decide where to put my money (and it has really paid off). If you add this type of observation to the numbers you usually come up with good answers.

IMHO
