When I was growing up, Ish, people used words like "nigger" and "spick" freely. I personally haven't heard those words uttered in public in years.

And my experiences growing up in the South were very much like Blue's.
If you had grown up there, no way you would have been going to school with a black. Segregation, remember?

I have seen a vast increase in genuine mutual tolerance since I was a kid, especially in my native Birmingham, Alabama.

No doubt we grew up in very different worlds. And apparently we also live in very different ones now.
