WHitey,

There is no doubt that all the giants are now aware of the emerging wireless data market. They are all putting resources into it at this stage. We, at Wi-LAN, do not under-estimate the power and strength of these giants. We are always studying their moves and determining the effect of their decisions on the business.

Whitey, There is no doubt that the Microsoft Qualcomm alliance will impact this business. I personally believe that the devices they are working on at this stage are slower than what the market will finally settle on. The giants can work on faster devices but two things are in the favor of Wi-LAN at this stage, we already have faster products and we have started the miniaturization effort since October 1997.

There is a joke in the business that 1999 is the year of the press release. Everyone is claiming that he has his wireless data offering. Everyone cannot afford to be left out and hence are announcing their efforts in this direction. However, the next few months will tell which offerings are real and which are imaginary.
