These are excerpts from a closed door meeting in Fla with John Welch Jr, the chairman of GE.He unveiled how GE will embrace the next century:electronic commerce. One analyst was quoted as saying "This is the new religion at GE," "The message here is if you don't have your organization focused on how much e-commerce will change your overall distribution, sales and marketing, then you"re in trouble."

Welch calls himself a "Neanderthal" when it comes to the Internet. Now he is encopuraging managers to hire technolgy-savvy young bloods to help infuse GE with knowledge of the World Wide Web. The message is that this is going to be the world business model and GE wants to be in front of that. He said, "It's the most exciting thing that I have seen in business"

None of this is news to this board, but coming from one of the top 2 Ceo's in the USA makes me think the "Internet Bubble" is a term for those that are'nt there, and yes some of these companies flying around today won't be flying down the road, but if you are lucky enough to diversify and find enough of the right vehicles, you will be a happy camper down the road, and that is why I thank Steve for this board helping us find some of those.
