"GE Introduces Breakthrough Ultrasound Technology"
PRNewswire (04/29/99)

GE Medical Systems has rolled out new technology that changes previous ultrasound systems. The GE Logiq 700 Expert System, which was tested at several research hospitals, allows users to see more of the patient's body, including blood flow and blood vessel walls. The Food and Drug Administration approved the device and it is commercially available worldwide. GE Medical Systems stated that the ultrasound machine will make it easier for doctors to detect a stroke, since blood flow and tissue will be more visible. The GE Logiq 700 Expert System was developed under the Six Sigma principles that are used throughout General Electric and GE claims Six Sigma allowed the company to complete the project two years earlier than it had originally intended. GE's ultrasound machine can also be used to analyze additional parts of the body, including the kidneys, liver, and thyroid.
