Yes, sometimes it can be confusing. Especially when you think you are a good person who hasn't done anything to deserve that rejection.

That has happened to me often.

I remember how disconcerted I was to learn that my mother hated me just because I was white.

And then later, how taken aback I was to learn that a lot of Arabs refused to associate with me because I wasn't Jewish.

And then later, I was nonplussed to learn that a lot of my sister feminists hated me because I was wishy-washy on abortion rights, because I am an atheist.

After that, I don't suppose anything will surprise me.
