Your messy solution to this tricky problem has not
worked so far. It seems to me to be doing more harm
than good. I need to sign off for a while to get a
few things done. We can explore this further later
if you'd like.

One final comment though -- I view the well intentioned
efforts to solve the messy end-cases using the power
of government to be what went wrong with this country.
It's easy to inflame the emotions over certain issues
and to use them as an excuse to extend government power.
Judging by the results, however, all that we really
achieved was to extend government power. The problems
of people using heroin, people being mentally ill,
people being poor, people being under educated, etc.,
are all still with us. So too, now, is a truly bloated
government.

A society that cherishes individual rights and individual
accountability seems to me to be the highest attainable.
Attempts to improve upon it using the power of government
coercion have all gone tragically wrong. Wouldn't it
be pragmatic to explore alternative solutions to the use
of government force?
