Richard,

I'll cut right to the bone-- It is VERY HARD for anyone to read things objectively when you have put your money on the table. Simple as that. You and I and everyone else is included in that group.

The successful investor is better at being objective and cutting through the clutter and, thereby, either adding to positions on weakness or cutting their losses and moving on.

Good Luck!

>>having followed
Rambus for a while, I think it's difficult not to come to the conclusion
that the changes in the PC market since the beginning of the
Rambus/Intel story combined with the engineering difficulties have
altered the Intel/Rambus relationship somewhat. Rambus may still have
a bright future. My problem is finding the proper entry point.

Richard,

Why in the world would want to find a "proper entry point" if RMBS/INTC relationship is on shaky ground? If you believe this, my best advice to you is walk away or better still short the hell out it.

I've read it twice too, ...or three times now.

I agree that this is standard CEO doublespeak. Don't insult anyone, don't make any statements which can embarras your your company if something OUT OF YOUR CONTROL takes place (like Rambus engineering issues are, to some degree, beyond Intel control despite cooperative efforts), and remember the audience. Intel needs all these suppliers and customers in the future!

However, like Mile and others point out, the comment about supply, price, etc., indicates that Intel might be a little offput by the fact that this key to their future plans has not rolled out in a manner totally to their liking. They have tried to take some control of those uncertainties by infusing cash into Micron and others. Still, they can't force the pace totally to their liking.

and yet, they are saying nothing negative about Rambus - the statement looks to me to be a solid statement of expectations -you technologists and fab producers will have our support it you produce the goods. If not, we keep our options open.
