Dear Ms or Mr. Tradesman,
No, I'm not having a bad day. Flowers are blooming
magnificently here today. Also I'm long AOL with 6%
of my family's money. My only point was that technical analysis
wastes people's time, not excepting the time of the analyst
himself, unless he is getting paid for it, like a horoscope
writer. I think all technical analysts should write down their
predictions in a carefully kept scientific notebook and then
constantly look back at last years prediction. Some of them
will have made millions, more will have lost every penny,
the average result will be quite inferior, I think, to looking
at the company and the price one pays for it, etc, i.e. the
usual way. Lengthy academic studies have debunked technical
analysis but that no more stops the chartists than does science
stop the horoscope believers. They are in different worlds.
