Knowing all this stuff isn't actually of much value in assessing the company's prospects. You are right. My primary motive in trying to understand the complexity (which is related to the likelyhood) of "open" access being forced on the MSOs. In the end it really takes nothing more than getting the basic concept that it would be difficult but not impossible to add more ISP's. Similarly the difficulty of solving the upstream data limitations is an issue not likely to surface for years until people start expecting true bidirectional broadband. What counts now is how many subscribers @home can install and how fast they can get new areas upgraded. That idea of calling in the National Guard was fascinating... Eric
