VoIP is set to be THE next big thing. All the big telecomms boys are working on it. The company i work for writes VoIP software. MSU could easily incorporate VoIP into their box - they'd just need an IP socket for a phone (plus some software applications to drive it)

(a bit of background)
VoIP lets you take your phone anywhere - plug it into any IP socket and it will still ring on the same number with your preferences. for call centres this means the agents can be at home but this is transparent to the customer. they could even be in different countries!!!
plus all you need is an IP network, no phone network (once the carriers fully support VoIP)
you can even ditch the phone hardware and use software phones instead.
plus the cost savings on non local calls :-)
