Casaubon, are you familiar with the Drake equation? i would say that the sheer vastness of the universe argues very strongly for extraterrestrials to exist. what i strongly doubt is that any of them would be able to engage in interstellar travel. the laws of physics are a tad too unforgiving for that. even if a way were found to actually harness the amounts of energy needed to accelerate and decelerate a space craft sufficiently to visit, say, a nearby star system in a half-way decent amount of time, it would be an extremely uneconomic adventure at best. you are right of course that even the mere existence of aliens is only conjecture until real proof is found(perhaps the SETI project will one day strike, ahem, gold).

regards,

hb

Yes, I was just trying to inject a little humor there.
As far as scientific evidence for the existence of UFO's goes, it seems to me that "they" are playing a bit of a joke on the scientists down here, by revealing themselves to many, many millions of people, while not letting too much scientific evidence get out there. I myself have seen "them" from time to time sice I was about ten years old, as have some of my friends, including one in the military who says they used to see them while they were on sea duty all the time.
(and yes, I know what weather balloons, the planet Venus, and aircraft landing lights look like) But, there certainly are the types who will not "believe" unless they get abducted or something. <G> Yogi
