I thought it was about creating wealth.


It is, but not the way wealth is being created in this market.

In this market, wealth is being created by driving up the price of pieces of paper which, a long time ago, had something to do with the intrinsic value of various companies. These pieces of paper are called 'stock certificates.' Now, people bid up the prices of these pieces of paper, thereby increasing the wealth of those who have these papers. Margin loans by brokerage houses allow increased bidding.


If someone can explain the difference between a share of Amazon and a genuing mint-with-mint-tag brown cubby beanie bear, well, I'm listening.
