BYE ALL it has been a fun ride. I made money, I lost money, and I enjoyed the competition Cyrix gave to Intel. The mostly intelligent exchange I have found here has always been interesting and stimulating.

To each of those who loved Cyrix, and the rest who just enjoyed making money off them, Goodbye.

Peter

PS Paul - do you suppose the Cyrix engineers lost their drive from lack of fear for their jobs tomorrow? The 586 was a stopgap that bought them time to fight another battle, etc.

Bye

National is keeping all the valuable resources of Cyrix and is using them to position themselves for the next era in semicon, based on single chip systems. It is also keeping the fab, though sharing it as a foundry, necessary in this era of multibillion dollar waferfab costs. It commands a fabulous new camera technology (Foveon) that will dominate this at least $4 billion market. The company is poised for an explosive advance. Just watch.
