Marc,

I don't think Sony initiates a price cut. They are going
to be taking a big bath on initial PSX 2 shipments so they
might as well make any money they can on PSX right now. Notice
I said initiates. Nintendo has a strategic card to play here
that they might play. Since their machine is so far
off, they may lower the price to $99 with nothing to lose just
to be a thorn in the side of Sony. Sony is waiting to drop
the price to $99 on 9-9-99 (how fitting), the day the Dreamcast
is introduced to steal some fire. Just think, if you have
neither system and you walk into EBX and you see a Dreamcast
with 10 games (if that many) for $199 or a PSX with 100 games
(per store) at $99, which are you going to buy? If Nintendo
drops at E3, I think Sony has to instantly match.

Then again, recent PSX price cuts in Japan show that a similar price drop in the states is imminent.

FWIW,

Vic
