You may deride "lesser evilism", but if you wish less evil, do something practical about it...

If you believe that the Republican party is still the party of peace, we may need to rename you 'Paleocon'! Where have you gone Bob Taft?

I think the Kosovo situation should be particularly instructive to the lesser evilism crowd. Here we have a complete reversal of the traditional roles between the Republicans and Democrats. I've been especially astonished at all of the contortions former doves have been going through to justify their new found hawkishness. It makes you wonder whether or not their real concern is really about power and the maintaining of it.

The one exception has been Ron Paul who has remained a consistent (and I believe sincere) voice against the military adventures of both parties.

The good cop, bad cop routine isn't so effective when the two occasionally switch roles...

By the way, as someone who has been involved in the libertarian movement for twenty years, I do feel as though we have been achieving some practical results. Given that I honestly don't see any reason for preferring a Republican evil to a Democratic one, I plan to continue down the path I'm on.
