Doesn't matter that writing naked puts backed by cash doesn't use margin. It requires a margin ACCOUNT.

You can't be issued a margin account in an IRA.

Dan and Jon,

A while back, in this very thread, Greg Higgins found a small brokerage house in Chicago (if memory serves me) that allowed writing Naked Puts in IRA account, provided you use your cash to purchase T-Bills.

I don't have the URL off hand, but Greg may still have it, or you can go thru the archive. I believe the time frame is around Feb 98.

Hope this helps,
