Peter, to answer your own question have a look at AGN3D. They have an interview with 3dfx regarding the 3500 TV.

"AGN3D: The new Voodoo3 3500 TV is going to be the same price that you were originally going to sell the Voodoo3 3500 for. You have added the Video-in and TV Tuner options and removed the DFP connection from the card. Do you not see much reason for the digital flat panel connection at this time?

3dfx: We took a look at the DFP market right now and where you are seeing most of the implementation is in the OEM market. The retail market on the other hand does not seem to need the FPD support that we were going to add on the Voodoo3 3500. At the current level of DFP support and release, we should see the DFP market take off in late fall."


The 3500 TV replaces the 3500 product and it appears that flat panel support has been dropped, for now.
