According to many 'experts', only the core CPI rate matters - energy and food prices should be ignored when looking at inflation. Somebody's spending too much time in their ivory tower. <g>

Jim: What is your take on the strength the RUT is showing compared to the larger cap Indexes?

Jim,
I come from "hard times" also, and never did get out of the coupons & specials habit. Around here in Jersey, the prices of butter, cheese, cold cuts, orange juice, and some fruits, are all up sharply from year ago levels, while on the other hand, prices of lamb, chicken, shampoo, ice cream, and some melons are down, but not enough to offset the sharp rises in the other products. Your wife is more right than wrong I'm afraid. Inflation is very much still with us. Yogi
