Could be the deal which removed Jack Murphy's name from the stadium and put Qualcomm in its place. Jack Murphy was a sports writer who had a lot to do with getting major sports franchises (Padres & Chargers) into San Diego.

They are the hottest employer in town,(the local ball park is now "Qualcomm Stadium"), and getting to be one of the biggest, after the Navy. Reporters are always looking for controversy, happy employees are not news.
