Bosco - pent up anger in China - not necessarily against foreigners, mind you; you hit the nail on the head, as to why the demonstrations were so intense. Of course the bombing mistake was stupid and regrettable, but the extreme over-reaction appears to be a carefully orchestrated show, conducted by the Chinese government. My guess is they welcomed the chance to have a public display of vented anger against the "evil" U.S., to take everybody's mind off of the insidious corruption, collapsing economy, and dismal prospects for the Chinese, so long as they are stuck with their current repressive form of government. Nothing like a war to stir up nationalistic passion, even if you're not the ones fighting it.
