Mike, as I understand it they expire at the close on the third Friday of the month. I have been following options for about a year and using the third Friday of the month has always worked out correctly. This month (May) equity expire on Friday the 21st at 4:00 pm. Therefore, they have expired on the following Saturday.

Hope this helps.

Rose

Mike: the 3rd friday of the month is the last day you can trade stock options with that months' expiry . Therefore May expiry options are still alive until May 21 4pm. Good luck N.C.

They use the third Friday of the month to calculate the date, then technically they expire the following Saturday which is the settlement date.
