A recent purchase of mine is GIBG
Rationale:
Current price 6 1/2
BV 16+
P/S .27
PE 6.7 X trailing 21.7 X Forward Est.
Cash/Share about $4
Current Ratio about 2.8/1
Debt is about 4% of capitalization
I will leave a link of my favorite investment letter which mentions this stock. There is a 30 day free trial. This mention influenced my decision - I rarely listen to talking heads, but I listen to George Putnam. I am not affiliated in any way with this service, other than paying a fee to use it.

Also, it was announced today that Bennett Lebow (of RJR fame) has taken a 5% stake.
Problems;
Earnings have been poor of late. Cards on the internet are a concern (although Gibson is involved in a company that offers this product on the 'net), and the company has been having problems with the two bigger players (Hallmark and American greetings) getting and keeping their products in mass market accounts such as Wal Mart.
I think value is coming back into favor, and IMHO this is a great value play.

Paul-- I sold my position in PLP this morning (speaking of fertilizer companies). No faith in management, and I was glad to escape with a nominal gain! Phosphates, as I understand it, are in short supply, thus PLP's double in the past 6 months or so. Nitrates (TRA, TNH), on the other hand are stockpiled above normal levels. Uhhmmm, one company that may be worth looking at as a dominant sector play is IMC Global, IGL. I may be wrong about company ticker, and I don't really know too much about 'em. Contrary to popular opinion, I am not actually an expert in the fertilizer biz. Regards, Paul Weiss
