ATI Sells Equity Ownership In UICC Foundry

TORONTO (May 10) BUSINESS WIRE -May 10, 1999--ATI Technologies Inc.
(TSE:ATY, NASDAQ: ATYT), the world leader in 3D graphics/video
acceleration and multimedia solutions, today announced that the Company
completed an agreement with United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC)
to sell approximately 69.8 million common shares of United Integrated
Circuits Corporation (UICC), a semiconductor manufacturing facility
located in Taiwan, to UMC. The sale represents the entirety of ATI's
4.7 percent equity interest in UICC at cost. ATI remains committed to a
multisourcing strategy and currently utilizes the foundries of United
Semiconductor Corporation (USC) and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing
Company Ltd. (TSMC) to produce its products. The Company has secured ample capacity to fulfill current demand from these facilities, in addition to additional allocations for any increases in its requirements should this materialize.
