Danny, you may be right. However, I know several VERY experienced traders who have large accounts and flip on a regular basis. Soros himself admitted to flipping IPO shares at times.

Flipping obviously depends on the situation. I did not flip EBAY, although I sold too soon as it turned out. However, I have no regrets flipping stock like VUSA at 60 (which is at 30 now), or CDOT which is a POS, and flipping PCLN I regret but I think the logic was sound. At 85 which is what I sold at, PCLN was worth more than almost all internet stocks, more than Delta, etc. I thought to myself, well, if this thing doubles from here it will be worth more than Yahoo and amazon.com. Surely people are not that stupid. It turns out they were.

However, going back, based on IPOs I recieved not-flipping would have put me ahead only if I had held EBAY to current level. Stocks that I am not worried about there existence in 5 years I dont flip, such as GS for example.

Besides, smart flippers have left themselves access to "good" accounts that dont flip so they have a backup plan.
