Alive
or
Dead

How they get there is a matter of interpretation.
A sort of an after the fact thing.
In case you hadn't noticed.

The continuation of any rights you might have had bestowed on you at birth, is entirely dependent on the fabric of the society you live in.

FT,

a three part question:

PartI

If one spends $100 on a West African prostitute, and she can now feed her children for a year, has the paying customer done anything wrong?

Part II

Subsequent to paying, but not before sexual gratification, the paying customer learns that the prostitute is HIV positive. Does this qualify for a refund? Would this answer be any different if this is discovered post-gratification?

Part III
Does a nation with the ability/knowledge to minimize the spread of disease have an obligation to assist another nation that does not?

Tom

<extra credit>
Was the Prime Directive as defined in Star Trek proper? Relate this to Part III.

Murder is not the same as killing. In many circumstances an individual has a right -- even a duty to kill.

In some circumstances that right is clearly present. In some circumstances that right is clearly absent. Sometimes it is not clear at all. Each of these distinctions must be drawn, through human judgement and often with incomplete or imperfect information (the dead guy is generally not able to give his side of the story). Yes, it is complex. Human situations generally are.

Except to the simple, or the occluded. Complexities do not cease to exist because we cease to acknowledge them.

Speaking of yourself again, are you? Well, it shows some maturity to realize that others on this thread may have not merely a right but a duty to kill you.

Figuratively, of course?
