Its all coming together: - The internet is starting to define its future shape. First we have access - AOL is the king, ATHM is the challenger. MSPG, Earthlink, and all the small ISPs are likely also-runs. The 80,000 gorilla is T, with effective control of ATHM, its own very powerful telephone internet connection, and making an end run for control of the internet. T, also, BTW, will be the biggest cable co if UMG deal goes thru, and will also make an end run on local phone connnection thru the cable line. Broadband - no nemer, not an all lady orchestra, but the home access that will allow large rivers of data to be accessed. QWST. LVLT, NXLK, ATHM, Roadrunner, GBLX/FRO are the front runners in this field. But look out for the rear. I am expecting some major announcements soon on ADSL. AOL and the baby bells cannot afford to be shut out of the broadband race and I think we will see ADSL connectivity at a reasonable price coming VERY QUICKLY. Content - NBC's announcement with Zoom (i think) and CNET is the wave of the future. DIS is trying it with SEEK and ESPN and ABC - but it is still a mickey mouse operation ( but look out when it gets rolling). Next big players will be CBS and TWX i believe. looking for some blockbuster announcements there soon. Must stocks to own: AOL and T - this is ALI-Fraser - the killa in cyberspace bout. Side note - much has been said about how AOL is losing the broadband war. DON'T COUNT AOL OUT !!! they have 17 mm subscribers willing to pay 15-21/month for internet access. The hoard of new puters being sold are low end, and these are probably be sold to new users, who are very happy to click and surf. sure cable modem is faster, but you need another modem, get another bill, more wires yuck. I feel AOL is getting more than 50% of new internet users as customers. and, lurking, in the background, with billion dollar bills falling out of his pocket, is uncle billy. ABC - Access, Broadband, and Content - was used this morning by a guest on CNBC, i am borrowing the initials and adding my own content. luck all. larry
