Do you own both ATHM and AOL?

>Hopefully, prices will drop.<

That's a point of great contention these days. I'm in one of
those sidebar discussions with Pat Mudge over in the CMTO
thread. Pat was kind enough to point me to the Palo Alto
Cable Co-op's offerings (looks like it's a CMTO brochure
that highlights the PACC agenda). Take a look at their
pricing structure, which ostensibly is now being charged
by PACC. It is drawn up along the lines of tiered services.
It knocked my eyeglasses askew.

Note, it's in .pdf format.

From Pat, in explaining some of the benefits of QoS features
in the Com21 modem:

As I understand it, there are different qualities of service
available, with tiered bandwidth and tiered pricing:

ATHM is not available in my area but RR is. There was a $150 fee for installation when it first became available but in subsequent months specials were offered that reduced that fee. I finally hooked up this past January when the service was offered with no installation fee. We were able to eliminate an extra telephone line so the monthly cost was not much higher. Perhaps ATHM will eventually do this in some of its' areas. HS

swig, sounds like TCI is feeding you a bunch of bull trying to tell you "no we don't have it , but you don't want it cause it costs too much".

In N. GA. installation is free. Modem is $10/mo. Service is $30/mo. And you can hook as many computers up as you want.

swig,

I had @Home service installed at my house (mid-peninsula, SF Bay Area) last month, 5 days after ordering it. $100 installation fee. Modem and network card "Free" bundled with the $39.95 monthly fee.

Don't go through TCI, call @home directly.
