Stitch, USB is faster than parallel for ZIP by several times.
I'll keep my eyes open for documentation. I own a USB ZIP
and it seems as fast as a hard drive.

Stitch,
More than you want to know about USB: intel.com

Specifics: USB has two data rates, 12Mbps for devices requiring increased bandwidth, and 1.5 Mbps for lower-speed devices like joysticks and game pads.

Parallel: fapo.com

Specifics: The maximum data transfer rate achievable with this architecture is around 150 kilobytes per second and is extremely software intensive.
