Amerindo was nice enough to bring us one of biotech's biggest crises, a forced bail during decent times...... they were so bad at picking biotechs that their financial troubles, November '96 to Spring '97, led to actual shorting of stocks in their portfolio. I don't know if Bill Slattery was a part of that, but, if so, he has one of biotech's worst records. If not..... some interesting picks, although not much overlap with where I'm poking and I don't agree with the basic premise.

from Peter, "blind elephants".........

It is very important, to maximize profits in the sector, to understand who knows their biotech and who doesn't. That's one objective of the BVF thread.

von Emster is not alone. I wouldn't be surprised if these guys have lunch together......

"what did you buy today?"

"my wife said that Rexall Sunset was introducing a new biotech wrinkle cream, so I bought VION because they have some cosmetic thing."

"good, thanks for the lead..... VMRX starts with a "V" too, do they have any cosmetics?"

"I don't think so.... but their HIV PI program with Glaxo is worth looking at."

"O.K. What did you sell today?"

"I needed lots of cash to buy the VION, so I sold all of my stocks that begin with "B".... they seem to go down more than others in the summer."
