Hummingbird bid for PC Docs extended

TORONTO, May 11, 1999 (The Canadian Press via COMTEX) -- Hummingbird
Communications Ltd. has extended until Thursday morning its right to
respond to a rival bid for PC Docs Group International, the document
management firm.

Hummingbird, which made an all-shares bid for PC Docs, had been
expected to react Monday to the April 29 all-cash offer by Open Text
Corp. of Waterloo, Ont. But Hummingbird and PC Docs said today they
agreed to extend the response deadline.

Open Text initially went after PC Docs last December. Since then there
have been counter-moves by the PC Docs board, Solution 6 Holdings of
Australia and by Hummingbird.

On March 4, Hummingbird offered one Hummingbird share for three PC Docs
shares. Then Open Text offered $8.50 a share.

A special meeting of PC Docs shareholders has been posponed until May
21, the National Post reports.
