I have a question about Castlewood .

How can Castlewood write off the R&D that they stole from Syquest (ie Iomega?)

Gee, I just read that PC World article looking for the "reason after reason to say 'NO!' to Iomega" that somebody said would be there.

The article has quibbles with most of the products reviewed, but in the "Decision Time" section it says: "If you're interested primarily in sharing files with colleagues or friends, the Iomega Zip is the logical choice because of its ubiquity. The USB version of the Zip is a breeze to install. For more storage space, go for the 250MB Zip SCSI drive, which accepts 100MB Zip disks."

Then, in the last paragraph, there's this: "If ease of use is your main concern, Iomega's Zip USB 100MB should be at the top of your list. Among the drives we reviewed, it's by far the easiest to install, letting you plug and play without turning off your PC."

Top of your list? Hardly a reason to say no. But if that isn't enough, they also rate the USB Zip to be one of the two Best Buys (along with Orb) in the category.

I did notice, though, that the article didn't mention the fact that since the Orb media is not formatted, users are advised to turn on the write verify feature, and that with that feature enabled, the write speed will cut in half.
