Yorkton Analyst Defends Controversial Downgrade of Bid.Com and Hold on Infowave Software; Recommends Versus Technologies as Next Internet Darling in a StockHouse.com Interview

TORONTO, May 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Controversial Mark Pavan, Yorkton's institutional analyst, defended his Bid.Com downgrade in an exclusive StockHouse.com feature interview, saying, ''It was simply a call that on a one-rate revenue business -- which is how we valued it all the way along -- it's valued at more than Amazon.com. That to me is excessive. Why would you own Bid.Com when you can own one of the leading brands on the Internet for cheaper?''

Regarding the recent retreat in shares of Bid.Com, Pavan told StockHouse.com, ''We haven't even seen the tip of the iceberg here. Let's wait a quarter or two and see if margins go to the moon. Then I'll be wrong, but I'm predicting that they won't.'' Earlier in the StockHouse.com feature interview, Pavan re-iterated his downgrade and said about the Bid.Com share price, ''Bid.Com I think goes lower, absolutely goes lower.''

With Infowave Software , Pavan said, ''The reality is -- it's a fantastic company with fabulous management. I think they're outstanding guys, who I have known for almost two years, and they work their tails off. So we're big fans of Infowave's management and their business plan. It's just that the stock has tripled here, so we went to a hold. I usually don't cover little companies like that, but I picked that one because I met the guys and was so impressed with what they were trying to do. The reality is that they've outperformed my estimates, all the way through, ever since I started covering them.''

Pavan also recommended Versus Technologies, saying, ''I think Versus is going to go way higher.'' He added, ''There are great things going on there. I think Versus is going to be the top Internet story over the next six months or so.''

OEM importance:
Keep in mind OEM customers represent a stable source of revenue for IWM. I agree the margins may be lower if the product is available via numerous vendors. Currently, IWM is one of the only company I know providers of printer drivers for MAC computers.
Therefore, I may not agree with anybody on concern of OEM sales eating away at margins.
