Tom,

Cost Savings to the Customer
A traditional one-hour long-distance call ranges between $6.00 (10
cents/min) and $13.00 (22 cents/min) for the call. By placing the same
call through the Talking Directory GatewayTM , that same call would
cost between $0.60 (1 cent/min) and $1.80
(3 cents/min) resulting in significant savings.

TomNY,

What is NPEC offering that a consumer doesn't already have? I'm still missing something.

Just FYI....here is a link to a company that will shortly be offering flat rate long distance VOIP (voice over internet protocol) nationally for as little as $20 per month. Calls are made phone to phone and the call quality will be as good as current long distance calls via devices called DVGs (data voice gateways) marketed by a company called Franklin Telecommunications (stock symbol FCM trading on the AMEX).

Trading of USATalks stock (symbol USAT) stock on the OTC BB reached a real frenzy last fall with the stock going from about $2.50 per share to over $60.00 per share in a very short time. Trading was then halted in late January of this year by the SEC due to forward looking statements made by the company and a 10 day suspension was imposed. The suspension was lifted on Feb. 12, 1999 and, as of now, is still trading on the "pink sheets". The appropriate form to resume trading on the OTC has been filed by USAT but, so far, no market maker has stepped up to to plate and created a market (by posting bids and asks) to resume trading as this special form appears to put the onus on the market makers for any improprieties going forward.

The network has been fully functional in California for a while now and USAT started billing customers on March 1, 1999 and, from what I can gather, USAT is about two weeks away from "lighting up" the network nationally. BTW, they also intend to expand the network into Canada.

I know someone who is from Panama and incurs about about $200.00 per month in long distance charges to call her parents.....think she might be interested in signing up with USAT?
