3Dlabs Launches 3Dlabs Online Store E-commerce Site with Immediate Shipment of the New Oxygen VX1
Secure Web-Based Store Sells Entire Family of Oxygen Professional Graphics Accelerators with a Risk-Free, 10-Day Money-Back Guarantee and Free Shipping
SUNNYVALE, Calif., May 11 /PRNewswire/ -- 3Dlabs®, Inc. (Nasdaq: TDDD - news) today announced the launch of the 3Dlabs Online Store, a secure web store offering the complete range of 3Dlabs Oxygen workstation graphic accelerators. The launch of the site loaded at www.3dlabs.com/store coincides with the availability of the new Oxygen(TM) VX1 workstation graphics accelerator. All Oxygen products are being offered with a special introductory package of free ground shipping, a free 3Dlabs Oxygen T-shirt and a 10-day unconditional money back guarantee -- allowing potential customers to experience the power of 3Dlabs' new-generation workstation boards with zero risk.

The 3Dlabs Online Store provides an opportunity for customers to browse the entire range of industrial-strength Oxygen accelerators, compare technical information and select the board that meets the user's performance and budget needs. In addition, shopping at the 3Dlabs Online Store provides other significant benefits for technical and design professionals such as automatic email notification of product and driver updates.

The Oxygen VX1 is priced at $299 MSRP and includes Sonnetech's Colorific® color correction software and the Soft Engine(TM) 4 AutoCAD accelerator from Vibrant Graphics, Inc. The AGP version of Oxygen VX1 is now in-stock, and a PCI version with Alpha processor support is expected to be available in the third quarter of 1999.

''The new Oxygen VX1 board is another outstanding example of 3Dlabs' commitment to providing high performance solutions for graphics professionals at previously unheard of prices. Customers that didn't believe they had the budget for true professional graphics accelerators, can now afford to move up to that category,'' said Danny Shapiro, director of e-commerce and marketing at 3Dlabs. ''Our electronic commerce strategy is designed to give our customers easy, risk-free access to the full range of 3Dlabs' product offerings, from the entry level Oxygen ACX and Oxygen VX1 cards, up to the powerful, award-winning Oxygen GMX.''

About Oxygen VX1

Oxygen VX1 uses 3Dlabs' new GLINT R3 workstation graphics processor to deliver genuine, industrial-strength workstation graphics for the same price as a games-only board. Oxygen VX1 boosts the productivity of design professionals with best-of-class 2D and 3D performance for Windows NT and OpenGL. Oxygen VX1 also provides 100% hardware acceleration for Windows 95/98 with OpenGL and Direct3D.

Oxygen VX1 ships with 3Dlabs' new PowerThreads SSE drivers, including fully-optimized support for all 70 of the new Pentium III Streaming SIMD Extension instructions, to maximize geometry performance that scales seamlessly as more CPU processing power is added. Oxygen VX1 delivers a fill-rate of 220M mip-mapped texels/sec, an 11M polygon setup rate, a Viewperf Light-02 score of 1.57 (1280x1024 true color), and Indy 3D Simulation score of 23.9 (1280x1024 true color) and a high-end 2D Winbench 99 score of 394 (1024x768 true color).

Oxygen VX1's Virtual Textures shatter the limitation of on-board graphics memory. The GLINT R3 processor contains a full demand-paged virtual texture sub-system in hardware -- enabling the use of on-board graphics memory as a cache for up to 256MB of textures stored in main system memory. Virtual Texturing works transparently with all standard applications and provides up to 30 times the capacity and efficiency of normal AGP texturing, without the loss of quality associated with texture compression.

The GLINT R3 processor's 300MHz integrated RAMDAC enables superb displays up to 2048x1536 resolution. The full 32MB on-board memory allows 3 million pixel displays to be processed and displayed with 32 bit color, 32 bit textures, and full 32 bit Z buffer. GLINT R3 also delivers the industry's most sophisticated pixel processing capability including 100% of the OpenGL 1.2 pipeline, accelerated volumetric rendering, bump-mapping with per-pixel lighting, dual bilinear mip-mapping, or triple texture blending in a single cycle.
