Stitch & UpwardB,

Quantum & MKE have written off the wafer fab business, but wholly owned subsidiary of MKE continues with slider & HGA assembly in Batam- totally captive- using outside sourced wafers.

Remaining engineering group in Mass. are employees of an MKE subsidiary.

Colorado wafer fab is now in the hands of StorageTek (tape heads). Shrewsbury fab is out of the HDD heads business, but no announcements that I know of as to new operators.

Upward Bound;

<<There are very few, if any, people left in the heads group in MA. There is little talk and virtually no sign left of MKQC. We both know that Quantum has written off MKQC and I'm sure that MKE has written it off as well.>>

FWIW There are people left in MA and they have a 2 year contract. Further MKE is buying new cap equipment for Batam. Sounds like they are digging in but I am not sure for what. Could be that they will be the primary HGA-HSA assy point regardless of slider source?

Best,
Stitch
