suggest to all to use an old pc as a nt firewall if using cable modem.

What about our renegade OS Linux? I currently have Linux deployed as my router/firewall/gateway machine. Way more stable than any MSFT product I have used <vbg>

I was told by the technician installing my cable modem that the modem uses bandwidth that can easily be expanded in the future by using excess cable capacity or by canceling the least popular TV channels as needed. In other words, if your system gets too sluggish it may be the fault of the cable system operator, not the technology. I can't personally vouch for this, just passing on what I was told. Most Cable operators are not known for great customer service, and they probably will improve service only if they get a lot of complaints.
