Well Timothy, What did he mean by "strike"? My husband has thrown me over his knee and slapped my bottom before, out of frustration with me ( could you imagine that) but I didn't feel it was something abusive. I asked him afterwards if he would kiss it, to make it feel better. What? I'm just kidding!!! Also, I know their are women that are violent too, in that case, I would say striking a women out of defense would be acceptable. I would have to know exactly what Mr. Connery meant with that type of comment. Susie p.s. I sure hope I don't offend anyone, by my comments.
