Thread. This is after all the George Gilder thread. In the context of secure communications, in deference to George, I suggest that WAVX is a potential ascendant technology company. He has not yet included it in his list (perhaps because he is on the board) but his last letter includes a discussion with the Wave CEO. I have investigated and suggest that Wave could be a candidate for due diligence. I decided to move on it today - just my decision and my call - no recommendation for anyone else except think worth a look. Chaz

[OT?] Hi Doug, I can't speak for particular implementations since I don't know their details and don't own a small business so I wouldn't necessarily be sensitive to the appropriate things. The best this is for you to know more about it than the sales people by spending plenty of time learning about various parts of the overall security picture, and then TELL them what you want, rather than them telling you what you need.

The side benefit to this is you open up a whole new world of companies that you can intelligently invest in that cover many of the pieces related to security (and there are many). There are plenty of books, and you'll have to accept the fact that you'll need to buy several.

If you go to Amazon: amazon.com
and click on "power search" and paste the following text in the power search box:

keyword is (secure or security) and (commerce or e-commerce) and
published after 1995

that will give you a good starting point. Don't be in a big hurry--you're ahead of the curve. Take the time up front to learn as much as you can BEFORE you go shopping for providers. That'd be my recommendation, FWIW.
