Bill--- No doubt, which is why when I cautioned the wait- and- see in the run- up, it was based on the thesis that Clinton would not have so much control over things. And I was right to this extent: he is bucking the Pentagon, ignoring CIA advice, and, with the Europeans, trading- off bearing the brunt of the operation for effective control. In other words, if he had been forced to listen to the others to get things done, it would probably have been a more effective action. I underestimated his arrogance (I thought it would be diluted by fanny covering), and the willingness of the Europeans to go along with him. Of course it hurts that Britain and Germany have similar politicians at the helm....Anyway, thanks for taking a more moderate view of my suggestion that we wait out the opportunity to negotiate, at least awhile longer...
