Bill, an admirable thing you are doing helping your daughter study for he algebra test... why not skip ahead and start teaching her about parabolic curves, they have many real life applications -vbg-

Bill what is your take on the 30 year bond action today? Shouldn't it move the market down not up? Why is FNM up? Is this world just nuts?

"to help my daughter prepare for an algebra test today."

Wait until you get to high school biology, if you have not already. They try to teach them biochemistry instead of how to identify a frog's liver or excise the notochord of a crawfish. One of the worst intellectual defeats I have suffered in my life was to try to understand my daughter's high school biology text. They might as well be giving them the Odyssey in Greek. I think it's some misguided effort to make sure any future biologist is up to speed as early as possible, but the net effect is to leave most kids ignorant of simple facts.
