Intel makes Sausage investment

MELBOURNE, May 17 (Reuters) - Internet software developer Sausage Software Ltd said on Tuesday it had placed five million shares at A$1.31 each to Intel Corp, the world's largest chip maker.

The placement equates to about 5.0 percent of Sausage's capital.

Sausage said it would use the A$6.55 million raised to strengthen its capabilities in e-commerce systems.

''Intel's investment will help us to accelerate our drive into the Australian e-commerce market segment,'' said Sausage Software director Wayne Bos.

Sausage said it had been working with Intel for more than 12 months as a reseller of Intel technologies.

Last week, Sausage Software said it signed a software licence and promotional agreement with U.S. based America Online (NYSE:AOL - news).

Sausage shares closed 15.6 cents lower at A$1.744 on Monday, but were bid at A$2.15 in pre-opening trade on Tuesday.
