".. It takes a pretty mixed up IT group
to decide to continue to use Sun workstations with NT co-processor cards and paying for
Windows API license (100 bucks). "

well depending on who you believe it costs about $3500-5000 per year to maintain a PC. Multiply that by thousands and $100 per PC for windows on a Sun Workstation doesnt seem like too bad a deal. Actually maybe all those PC's in the first place are the bad deal - Sun workstations arent for everyone, they never have been. you constantly want to compare a Sun Workstation vs. a PC while Sun has grown and prospered in so many areas. If this is your only point Move on..

"..Java is great but Sun hasn't profited from it yet .."
well, Microsoft paid them $15 million for their Java licenses - i think other companies that actually planned to use the JDK rather than corrupt it paid a little bit more. Sun's licensing model for Java is beyond you or me..and the opportunities are absolutely there..Java's also made the stock go a lot higher because the analysts recognize the opportunity, so Sun has profited, I've profited, I guess its just you that hasnt.
