Faster than the current modem and narrowband systems. As far as I know, only correct thinking is faster than the speed of light...

A study by Northern Telecom indicates the comparable costs of fiber and wireless in orbit to be essentially similar-- in both costs and return on investment. It takes into account seemingly numberless variables, but the study seems pretty legit.

The market for satellite broadband has not been defined at all-- I agree RS. But neither was the market for internet six years ago. Paul Allen sold his America On Line long ago-- little knowing how wrong he was on American On Line's future...

There is a certain truth I think to Bernard Schwartz' comment "Build it and they will come". I have to keep going back to the cell phone of the late 1970s when all the experts stated Motorola had no future. The market at that time was not defined either. Had it been, who would have made money on Motorola's stock? When something is defined, who has the knowledge (and thus profit making) advantage? Jim Cramer of theStreet.com? Read that today theStreet.com is worth over $1 billion. No money, no revenues, all from, to quote Mark Haynes of CNBC, Reverend JimBobCramer of the Church of Whatever is Working Now".Can't wait for the bear market-- we'll see what "dot com" shares are worth then.
