Hello Lucinos: MR heads had their challenges of adoption. They are more cost-effective components for HDD's ultimately. That ultimately improves the cost-effectiveness of HDD's in general, raising their demand through greater value at the margin. Every step of more cost-effective contribution to the HDD box makes the HDD more attractive to consume. HDD economics remain a marvel of powerful cost-effectiveness. OTOH, starting out so primitively left a huge amount of room for improvement for the last 4 decades, and I think, at least one decade forward yet. When improvements drop to a few % per year, the technology will be mature. HDD's still have a lot of room to grow technology-wise. Best regards, m
