Ok answered my own question...

AN ANNOUNCEMENT to that effect is expected Wednesday and follows reports yesterday, including my own, that an end to the transaction could come as early as this week. The move will set Lycos free of the doubt that has plagued its shares and employees as the deal with USA ran into significant opposition, particularly from Lycos' largest shareholder, CMGI Chairman David Wetherell.
While USA Chairman Barry Diller could have waited until a Lycos shareholder vote on the deal came closer, it wasn't expected at the earliest until July. People familiar with Diller's thinking say he was convinced he could not win the vote and did not expect that to change as the vote approached.
By ending the deal now, Diller also removed uncertainty surrounding Lycos and Ticketmaster, which would have been involved in the deal.
Diller is expected to announce another Internet effort in the weeks ahead.
