Ut oh speculation like this is supposed to come after the analysts' meeting

Can you imagine, CBS Market speculating on AAPL's eCommerce sucess ?

-----------
" Imagine the power of these types of features if and when pay-per-view
Web multimedia catches on. Customized television on demand, displayed
on Apple QuickTime Player, paid in micropayments and billed
automatically to personal user accounts could turn out to be Apple
Computer's convergent Holy Grail.

Of course, for that to happen, a few other small things would have to take
place. Microsoft (MSFT: news, msgs), for instance, would have to fail at
the same quest. And QuickTime would have to steal the 85 percent lead
currently enjoyed by Web streaming software provider RealNetworks
(RNWK: news, msgs). Moreover, the Apple Sherlock search engine
would have to become more popular than Yahoo. And, finally, Apple
would have to keep selling more machines. "

Then read this closely about a low cost PowerPC in search of web smarts and speculate some more:

G4s in Oct or in May2000? Mac Observer says G4s available in October but MacOS Rumours says they aren't going to be available in Macs until this time next year.

The schedual is important to many like me, does anyone know anything about this?

G4 speed

When they say that the G4 will run Photoshop 1.5 times faster than the G3, I assume they are comparing the two at the same clock speed. So, a 600mhz G4 would run Photoshop 225% faster than a 400mhz G3. Of course, the processor isn't the only bottleneck; there is also the memory subsystem. I'm sure they are quoting an average performance (i.e. sometimes the g4 is 3x faster and sometimes it has no advantage over the G3--partially due to memory bottlenecks).

Could it be that it "can run Photoshop apps 1.5X as fast as the G3" is a reference to an unoptimised Photoshop? Once Photoshop is programmed to utilize the Altivec enhancement, shouldn't the performance improvement numbers add a zero and change?
