Tae Kim and TigerPaw: My understanding is that the new distribution system will not be put into place until August 1st. This should give everybody in the channel plenty of time to "get real and get over it."

T K -
you can't really change from a retail channel model to direct model
CPQ is not changing from a retail channel model to a direct model. Half of CPQ's current revenue base is sold direct and always has been - the DEC and Tandem products and services. The recent announcement of channel consolidation clearly says CPQ is not shifting to a direct model. The direct / indirect model discussion applies to CPQ's commercial PC business which has only about 35% of CPQ's revenue, and 20% of profit.
